Tuesday belonged to the plug-in crowd. ChargePoint jumped 9.21% to $10.79, Enphase rose 8.92% to $30.42 and SolarEdge gained 8.86% to $32.88, as the solar rebound ran into a second day. SpaceX climbed 3.62% to $141.31, now 4.67% above its $135 IPO price. Tesla took the day off from winning, slipping 1.32% to $398.50, just under $400 again. Chips finally caught a breath (Nvidia +2.29%), and after the bell AMD’s blowout quarter sent its shares sharply higher. Tokyo was closed for Culture Day.
The top take
- ChargePoint (CHPT) $10.79, +9.21%. The best day on our US board, and the second straight big one. On Monday, LS Power offered $2 a share for the part of fast-charging network EVgo it doesn’t already own, and traders started repricing the whole beaten-down charging group. 24/7 Wall St. called ChargePoint’s Monday pop a likely sympathy move (24/7 Wall St.). We didn’t find any fresh ChargePoint-specific news on Tuesday, so call it the same buzz with more volume. The stock is now up 23.60% in five sessions and 62.50% for the year, easily the best YTD number on our US list.
- Solar, day two. Enphase (+8.92%), SolarEdge (+8.86%), Sunrun (+5.21% to $8.68) and First Solar (+2.11% to $185.90) all kept bouncing. 24/7 Wall St. pinned it mostly on lower interest rates, with the 10-year Treasury yield hitting its October low on Oct 30, which helps the loans that pay for rooftop systems. It also noted that Enphase’s CEO said on the October 27 call that the company is “not seeing any meaningful recovery in U.S. demand,” so this is a rally on rates, not on orders. Sunrun had its own news: its Puerto Rico virtual power plant has doubled to more than 60,000 customers, and it reports third-quarter results on Wednesday, Nov 4 (24/7 Wall St.). Sunrun is up 15.27% in five sessions and still down 52.83% for the year.
- SpaceX (SPCX) $141.31, +3.62%. Second green day in a row, and it traded above $142 at the high. The Boost Mobile story is still doing the lifting. SpaceX has reportedly been talking to EchoStar about buying Boost or getting access to its network for a Starlink Mobile phone service, after AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon all turned down Musk’s request for network capacity (Drive Tesla Canada, Drive Tesla Canada). Nothing is signed. Over five sessions it’s still down 4.89%. After hours CNBC had it at $142.31 (+0.71%) at 5:44 p.m. ET (7:44 a.m. JST Wednesday).
- Tesla (TSLA) $398.50, −1.32%. It opened above $406 and drifted lower all day, on light volume. No bad news drove it. If anything the news was nerdy and good: Munro Live’s Cybercab teardown showed a 4680 pack built from swappable modules, a steel enclosure, no paint shop and a final assembly line of 25 fully automated stations, and more than 300 Cybercabs are already running in Austin (Not a Tesla App). Over in Europe, the Dutch regulator RDW approved changes to Tesla’s supervised driving system there, including a speed offset cap of 10% (Not a Tesla App; our story is here). Tesla is down 2.20% over five sessions and 11.39% for the year. After hours: $397.61 (−0.22%).
- Chips catch their breath. After two ugly sessions the PHLX Semiconductor Index rose 2.63% to 10,600.40. Nvidia gained 2.29% to $206.69 and added 1.26% after hours to $209.30. The bigger story came after the close. AMD (not on our board) closed up 3.65% at $483.90, then reported third-quarter revenue of $13.38 billion, up 45%, with data center revenue nearly doubling to a record $8.55 billion, and guided fourth-quarter revenue to about $17 billion, well above the $16.23 billion analysts expected (CNBC, Investing.com). CNBC had AMD at $513.21 (+6.06%) after hours at 5:44 p.m. ET.
- Everyone else. BYD rose 2.70% in Hong Kong to HK$72.35 after reporting October sales of 490,168 vehicles, its best month of the year, with overseas shipments up 102.8% to 170,194 (CnEVPost). Serve Robotics added 3.98% and QuantumScape 2.49%. On the red side, Ford fell 2.30% to $12.31 and GM 1.78% to $88.34, though GM is still up 9.68% over five sessions. Mobileye lost another 1.06% to $5.59. In all, 16 of our 23 US names closed green.
- The indexes. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.83% to 25,372.01 and the S&P 500 added 0.36% to 7,568.92, while the Dow slipped 197.26 points (0.38%) to 51,786.72 (CNBC and Yahoo Finance).

* SpaceX listed on June 12, 2026, so its YTD figure is measured from the $135 IPO price. † BYD is shown in Hong Kong dollars (1211 HK) because its US ADR trades thinly over the counter; HK$72.35 is about $9.22 at HK$7.85 per dollar. CNBC matched every US close and day % in this table. SolarEdge’s day % uses Nasdaq’s official $30.205 Monday close. For BYD, the close matched CNBC and stockanalysis.com, and the day % matched stockanalysis.com.
Tokyo corner
No Tokyo board today. The Tokyo Stock Exchange was closed on Tuesday, November 3, for Culture Day, so the most recent Tokyo session is still Monday, November 2, and you’ll find that full board, with Panasonic and Tokyo Electron’s big earnings days, in Monday’s wrap. Japan reopens on Wednesday, November 4 at 9:00 a.m. JST (Tuesday, Nov 3 at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT).
It’ll have some catching up to do. Tokyo missed Tuesday’s chip bounce and AMD’s after-hours beat, both of which matter for the chip-equipment and testing names on our list like Tokyo Electron and Advantest. The yen was at about ¥158.66 per dollar late Tuesday in New York (CNBC). The automakers get their own test on Thursday, when Toyota reports first-half results.
What to watch
- Wed, Nov 4: Tokyo reopens after the Culture Day break, and Sunrun reports third-quarter results (24/7 Wall St.). After two days of solar rallying on rates, this is the first real look at demand.
- Thu, Nov 5: Toyota’s first-half results at 1:55 p.m. JST (Wednesday, Nov 4 at 11:55 p.m. ET / 8:55 p.m. PT) (Jiji via Yahoo Japan).
- Mon, Nov 9: EVgo’s third-quarter results, with a webcast at 9:00 a.m. ET / 6:00 a.m. PT (11:00 p.m. JST). Any word on LS Power’s $2 offer could move ChargePoint too (24/7 Wall St.).
- This month: Cybercab rides in Dallas. They’re expected to start this month, and Tesla aims to deliver the first Cybercabs to customers before year-end (Not a Tesla App).
The EVX Take
A 1.32% dip on a quiet day isn’t a story. The Cybercab teardown is. A car with no paint shop, a pack you can fix one module at a time and a line that’s already faster than Tesla can deploy the cars is the kind of thing that shows up in margins later, not in Tuesday’s tape. Meanwhile, ChargePoint up 62.50% for the year is a nice reminder that charging was left for dead way too early. Tokyo has a lot to digest on Wednesday morning, and AMD just handed the chip names a pretty good breakfast.
Prices: Yahoo Finance, cross-checked against CNBC quotes for every US-listed ticker (closes and day % matched; SolarEdge’s prior close is Nasdaq’s official close) and against stockanalysis.com for BYD (matched). stockanalysis.com was still showing stale intraday snapshots for 10 US tickers at publish time, so CNBC was the second source for the US board. After-hours quotes and USD/JPY: CNBC. Index levels: CNBC and Yahoo Finance. As of market close on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (US close 4:00 p.m. ET, which is 6:00 a.m. JST on Wednesday, Nov 4; Hong Kong close on Nov 3). Tokyo was closed on Nov 3.
