Grok Bot Now Builds Reports and Dashboards That Keep Themselves Updated, as Anthropic Unveils Claude Duet

Grok Bot can now build pages: reports, memos, dashboards, trackers and explainers that you ask for in chat and that the Bot keeps up to date. The official @bot account announced the feature on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 3:42 PM ET / 12:42 PM PT (Thursday, Oct. 22 at 4:42 AM JST), and Elon Musk quoted it about an hour later: “Grok @Bot is like hiring a super smart and fun employee!” The same day, Anthropic opened a waitlist for Claude Duet, its own proactive agent. The race to build an AI that does office work is getting crowded.

What a page is

“Grok Bot can now build reports, memos, and dashboards,” the post said. “Ask Bot for a page, then edit it together or have Bot keep it up to date.” The 27-second demo shows a “Q4 Forecast & Pipeline” dashboard being built from a chat request.

Grok Bot’s help center fills in the details. A page can hold text, tables, charts, and controls like filters and switches. You make one by asking, for example, for a page “that compares the three quotes in this thread, with a table and a short recommendation.” On desktop, the page fills the window with the chat in a panel beside it, so you can keep asking for changes while you read. Only the Bot edits the page; filters and switches change what you see, not what it holds.

Pages live in the Bot’s Library, where you can pin them. A new page is private until you share it, either with teammates or with anyone who has the link. Public pages get their own address on pages.grok.bot, readable without signing in, so the help center warns you to share one only when it holds nothing private. Public sharing is off for Enterprise teams. The feature is rolling out gradually, isn’t on Enterprise teams yet, and needs version 0.60.0 or later on desktop and 1.14.0 or later on mobile.

The update builds on an Oct. 11 release that had already started calling canvases and documents “pages,” with PDF download and sharing, Tesla News Wire noted. The big change is the “keep it up to date” part: a dashboard that refreshes itself is a lot more useful than one you have to ask for again every Monday.

Grok Bot, now also in a Cybercab

The timing fits a busy week for Grok Bot. On Oct. 21 we reported that it had passed 800,000 paid weekly users. And Tesla’s Q3 update, released the same day as the pages feature, says Grok is now available in Cybercab “with access to Grok Bot and Connectors,” so riders can manage their inbox, calendar, files, chats and tasks by voice. Tesla calls that “transport, office & living room in one.” A Cybercab rider could, in principle, ask for the Monday dashboard on the way to the office.

Claude Duet joins the party

Anthropic’s Claude Duet, announced Oct. 21, is a standalone app for iOS and Android, and also runs on claude.ai. It is a research preview by waitlist, starting with US Pro and Max subscribers. Anthropic says it’s built around Claude Opus 5.5 and aimed at professionals and small-business owners. Duet sends a morning brief on what matters across your connected apps, checks those apps every few hours, and messages you when something needs attention. It runs in its own virtual machine with a browser, so it keeps working when your laptop is closed, and it can tap more than 6,000 connectors and plugins.

Anthropic is leaning hard on safety. Duet drafts and prepares on its own, but before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything, it shows you what it’s about to do and waits for approval. Some actions, like trading securities or moving money between accounts, are off-limits even with approval.

Duet arrives in a hurry. CNBC framed it as a challenger to Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s dots. Mark Zuckerberg told analysts on Meta’s earnings call the same day that more than 10 million people in the U.S. and Canada have set up Muse agents in about six weeks. Anthropic itself admits Duet “might misread a thread or miscalibrate what’s urgent.” Anthropic has its own big numbers, too, as its draft IPO filing showed.

Grok Bot’s pitch is that it’s already out of preview, already paid for by 800,000 weekly users, and now ships with a page builder. Musk’s “employee” line is a pretty good summary of where this category is heading. The new hires don’t sleep, and they don’t need a desk.
